The first significant New York Times article on basketball appeared in 1902 when the newspaper noted the game's rising popularity among young men. Citing Dr. James Naismith as the game's inventor 11 years earlier in Springfield, Mass., The Times wrote, "The first goals were simply a bunch of simple peach baskets hung at each end of the gymnasium, and hence the game took its name."

Outside of the peach baskets, the game has changed very little in the past century, but its popularity has exploded with the marketing of the National Basketball League and its 30 teams. As you look through this 12" x 15" hardcover book, it will take you back in time to your favorite team's glory days. You'll find as-it-happened game stories, in-depth features, obituaries, playoff results and rarely seen pages pulled from the extensive New York Times archives.

Books range from 70-80 pages and are beautifully bound in a stately leatherette binding. The covers reflect a team's basic color with gold or silver foil embossing.

Each book comes with a 2.5" x 7.5" magnifier and a certificate of authenticity.

Each year after the playoffs, books are updated if significant events occur. Because this personalized item is custom-made for you, all sales are final and this product cannot be returned, refunded or exchanged. Produced in Vermont.
